"If I Die Young"

This song has been stuck in my head for days, and I just keep listening to it over and over. It is kinda odd, but I really like it. Be warned: two of the guys in this video are seriously unattractive. Yeah. It's actually too bad, because if they had decent hair, they wouldn't be bad looking. I think it is pretty cool that this group (called "The Band Perry") are all siblings.

Anyways--enjoy.

  3. So, I take it she lives in the end. That's good. That boy looked awfully sad.

  4. I loved how they tied in Anne of Green Gables and the Lady of Shallot...and that the video looks like it ends happy...although that doesn't exactly make sense with the song...except that the song is completely based on "if"...so I guess that works. :)

  6. I don't *really* like this song...kind of sad, but the video is pretty neat - and oh really? I didn't know they were all siblings! 'Seriously unattractive', eh? :D *haha* Yeah, their hair does kinda get on my nerves, but I think the guitar player is the better looking of the two. :D *hehe* SHE is really pretty...gorgeous hair!

  8. Haha, I just put this video up in a music post on my blog. Didn't know it was on yours too. :) The lyrics are odd...and the song could be looked at as something sad and depressing. But it can be interpreted many ways.

Plus, I love the actual video part. :) Agree about the guys' hair....

  10. I know I'm a little late on the bandwagon, but I can't stand this song. The tune itself is very catchy, and I've had it running through my head for days on end now, but the lyrics are simply ridiculous. Now, I don't think anyone will actually be driven to suicide by this drivel (at least I hope not), but the lyrics do rather glorify death in an extremely simplistic, I'm-a-teenager-so-I'm-the-center-of-the-universe egotistical kind of way. To wit: "maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin' / Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'." In short, the attitude is, 'You'll appreciate me when I'm gone. So there!' Of course, the author/protagonist will presumably be dead at that point, and unable to appreciate the posthumous appreciation of the "boy here in town who says he'll love me forever," etc. Just plain silly. And to top it all off, the video is (if it is possible) even sillier. It outright plagiarizes the mid-1980s TV adaptation of "Anne of Green Gables," except enacted by the my-hair-is-hipper-than-yours members of The Band Perry. Blech.
