Strawberry Lemonade = Nectar of Life

Yesterday was hot. So Bethany made strawberry lemonade. Did I mention that strawberry lemonade is on my top ten life essentials? Anyways... we drank way too much.
And then got silly.

LOL. That's all there is to say about this picture.

Sam, Juli, and Bethany

Juli looks like a poodle skirt girl here for some reason...

Fashion Hates: Twilight Clothing

I am not a fan of Twilight, even though I am a 16-year-old female.
Not only am I not a fan... but I am a hater. Aside from the whole immature obsessive teen-romance thing... NEWSFLASH: Vampires = creepy, horrible, perverted.

Which is why this new trend of "Twilight" themed clothing is very, very, yucky to me. I am so tired of going into the juniors' section of JCPenney and seeing shirts with "Forget prince... I'm gonna marry a vampire", "Forbidden fruit tastes the best," an other such revolting messages. Not to mention the countless "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" shirts.

Wow. Have fun. Bella is a retarded simpleton.

NO. Please. Sparkle?? Not cool.

Of course there are all the pillowcases and shirts and bags and purses with Edward and Jacob on them...but I will not be sharing those with you.
Edward's face is not allowed on my blog, thank you very much.

Leverage

Today is a great day. I have been anticipating it for a long, long time.

Season 3 of Leverage has started.
If you have not seen it, watch it.
If you have seen it, and don't like it... you probably shouldn't tell me, because it would get ugly.
And if you have seen it, and love it like I do... that's the start of a great relationship.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

So this movie. I have very mixed feelings about it.
In ways, I absolutely adored it. It spoke to my soul. Made me weep. Stuff like that. Similar to Alice in Wonderland, in that regard, actually.

Something that was kinda freaky about it was that the two main characters, Delysia and Miss Pettigrew, were so much like me and my sister Bethany. Seriously. It was eerie. Miss Pettigrew even married the guy that has been Bethany's primary hero for years. However, if you have watched this movie, please note that I would NOT do what Delysia does in the first part of the movie.
...Which brings me to the reason I can't utterly adore and recommend this movie. There was offensive stuff, and although it was portrayed as bad... it was still offensive.

Another reason I love this movie is NAMELY THAT I LOVE THIS GUY SO MUCH.
He didn't get lots of screen time, but they did a really good job of making him very likable and wreaking havoc whenever he did that heartbreaking sad face, causing audiences to weep and wail. Or maybe that was just me.

Anyway.

Another awesome thing was the time period. I love 40's fashion, and there were some lovely outfits in this movie.

This look! Bethany would totally do this. The whole wary/stand-offish/uncomfortable thing.

Miss Pettigrew was so, so sweet.

Delysia was so, so foolish at times, but she definitely was likable.

This scene. Definitely on my top 10 movie scenes. :-)

I will be posting a YouTube clip of my other favorite scene in time to come.
Did you see this movie? Did you like it or hate it? Do you share my ridiculous adoration for the guy?

J. Crew

This morning, I found some lovely summer dresses in the sale section of J. Crew website. A lot of the clothing from this store is very expensive, but this summer sale has some pretty sweet markdowns, plus the coupon code EXTRA30 takes off 30 percent of sale items, so many of the dresses are pretty reasonable.

I'm not a huge fan of purple, but this color is beautiful, and I love the dress design. It's halter neck though, which I'm not comfortable wearing, so I would wear it with a shrug.

So retro housewife.

I'm not sure it would ever be appropriate to wear a white dress like this except as a bride... but if it was, I'd wear it. :-)

This color. *swoon*

This would be really cute with a white shirt under it.

This dress + white short-sleeve shrug + pearls + white sandals = cuteness incarnate.

Long-awaited trailers

I have been waiting for these trailers to come out forever!
The movies are supposed to come out at the end of the year, I believe.
Disney is finally doing a Rapunzel story, but this one looks considerably spiced-up.
I can't wait! I think I am going to love the guy. Check it out.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The third installment in the spiral of doom (AKA the Narnia Series). Prince Caspian was certainly worse the the first one,
and hopefully the third will not continue the downward trend.
View the trailer here.

What do you think? I think they both look pretty promising.
But I'm not expecting the Dawn Treader to be perfect.

I'm Back

[I am posting this photo because it is one of the few pictures that I took at camp, and I think it is kinda cool, and it is of a really awesome person I hung out with.]

SO.

Our church family camp was awesome.
I am tired.

Things that I did:

Hung out with an awesome person (see above) who I rarely see because she lives in California. (What is up with that, anyway?)
Hung out with other super awesome people.
Played putt-putt golf.
Ate. Much.
Stayed up super late every night.
Did not play tag. *weep*
Watched, and did not participate in, many sporting events. :-)
Cried.
Laughed inordinately.
Got wet in the ocean... had severe wardrobe malfunctions as a result.
Got a cold.
Drank tea.

Got sunburnt.
which turned into a tan.
and now I have a very brown nose.

Gone

I will be gone. For a week. We are going to the beach for our church family camp. It should be amazing. If you comment while I'm gone, I will feel loved.

Pretty

Vintage-style bridesmaids' dress I found here.
I love the pleats--they make the skirt full without making it bulky and fattening.

Peter Pan

I'm participating in Wickfield Writing's Make Believe Peter Pan blog event!
I have always loved Peter Pan... we watched the cartoon A LOT when I was little. I always wanted to be Tiger Lily and marry Peter.
Not much has changed.

A couple years ago I saw the 2003 "real-people" adaptation of Peter Pan, and had mixed feelings about it.
And then awhile later I watched it again, and decided I definitely liked it, despite some rather odd elements added to the story, some rather lame acting, and other things that are legitimate complaints about it.

So... I've never been a huge fan of Wendy. I mean, motherly, bossy big-sister types aren't my favorite.
And she is mean to Peter sometimes. >:(

But sometimes I do root for Wendy. And she is okay. I guess.

He looks so sad. *cry*

At this point I did feel bad for her.

"Mother and Father are fighting again!" LOL. Favorite quote.

My sister and I argue about Peter Pan. Because she always says he is immature and arrogant and intolerable and annoying and childish. And stuff like that. But I love his personality. IF ONLY he would have decided to come back and grow up. If I was Wendy I would have convinced him to stay.

Captain Hook was um... creepy. And really mean to Tinkerbell.
Oh, and I love that scene where Tinkerbell is in the drawer. It makes me LOL.

My romantic, inappropriately gooey side (which occasionally gets the better of me) loves this scene, which includes them dancing (in the air!!) at night. Swoon.
Peter Pan. Yeah. So my type.

The Lost Boys were awesome.

So the sorta controversial thing in this movie was the whole KISS. Warning bells. I mean, they are like 12. SO YEAH. It's a little weird. Well, try very weird.
By the way, my sister and I occasionally begin chanting "I DO believe in fairies... I DO , I DO..." at random.
Um, forget I said that. It's a little strange.

So have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Beach = good, Shopping = good, too

We are back from the beach. It was great. The weather was spectacular.

This is my humorous sis. I love this look.

This is my sis and I working. Notice my adorable Alice in Wonderland leggings. :-) They have hearts on them, in case you couldn't tell. Bought them at Claire's.

We went to the outlets... and I bought many baby clothes. I would have bought the whole store, and had about 90% of it in my arms, but then my sister came and tore over half of it away from my clutching grasp, and I had to content myself with...less. Remember this? I bought it. Now I can die fulfilled and content.

Oh, and by the way, we went to mall last week and I got some awesome stuff. We went to Charlotte Russe, which I have never been in, and I loved it. And bought an absolutely delicious drapey cardigan thing.

I have an amazing brother.

This is my brother. Usually he looks less creepy than he does in this photo
He is awesome.

So you know how I posted about National Donut Day yesterday?
My brother was coming over to the beach to spend the weekend with us, and when he got here...
he brought a donut.
Because he read my blog post and went to Krispy Kreme and got me one.
The donut was amazing. And so is he.

Garnet Hill

I didn't know anything about Garnet Hill until I randomly requested a catalog while browsing this cool place where you can get free catalogs from clothing companies to peruse luxuriantly at home.

Anyway. I requested a free catalog, received it, and promptly fell in love. With everything. So I went to the website and got way too many photos to share with you. :-) Their clothing is not insanely priced, but too spendy for me. Maybe someday when they have an awesome sale, I will buy a dress.
I like how their stuff is pretty modest, conservative, non-teeny-bopper-ish, but not old-lady at all. I love love love love it.

Love the polka dots... as always. Isn't the headband darling??

Headband! Hair! So cute!

Absolutely love this outfit. Leggings + pink + grey + ruffles + skinny belt = happiness for me.

LOVE RUFFLES. FOREVER AND EVER AMEN.

See above.

Super cool color. And it's just a very classic, feminine look. And her headband!

This is way. too. cute.

White skirts are on my top 10 life essentials.

This is a really cute cut, and I like it with the scarf.

I love the lace trend. And this is really cute.

Adorable knit drapeyness.

Cardigans. Yum.

I would wear this dress. I would SO wear this dress. Orange heels! Yes!

Love flowers on shoes.
