Drooling over vintage clothing...

When we were at the beach last week (the sixth and last time for the summer),
I checked out a kinda grungy-looking vintage shop.
Because I've never ever been in a vintage store.
And I love vintage! Problem? Yes.
I went in, even though it was called Garbo's Vintage.

And amongst the saggy baggy worn-out junk,
and the outdated weird dresses,
and the horrific 70's stuff,
and the lame guys' clothes...

There were treasures.
I found several lacy 50's dresses... the white one pictured above was... too small.
But the boot made me happy.

A couple cute outfits... how do ya like the fuzzy white hat?
Sorta unsettling.

Darling blue heels... of course they were too small.
What is up with vintage people being so stinkin' small??

I tried on this lovely wedding dress. It fit...as long as breathing was unnecessary.
Which it was.
But I would have bought it and worn it by any means possible...if it hadn't been $200.

I left part of my soul in that shop, and I'm gonna have to go back to collect it.

  1. Aren't they amazing little places? I actually like antique stores, as they also sell clothing - the vintage shop I was in was creepy, so I have yet to find a charming one. ;) But that wedding dress is luscious! and the pumps...adorable. Such great finds. I'll bet you wanted to take home most of the store!

  2. That wedding dress is gorgeous!

Unfortunately, I've never been able to go into a vintage clothing shop yet. I've never even come across one. And the thrift stores around here are mostly stocked with the scary things you mentioned. Especially hideous 80s clothing. We have a huge, amazing antique store in town that's actually not too expensive, and they do have some clothes. I need to look more closely in there next time...usually I'm engrossed in the records, yellow dishes, wardrobes, and vintage bags and hats. :)

  6. I loved the fuzzy hat, jacket outfit and totally would have worn it!

Otherwise the place was the pits. (Oh except for the rows of cowboy boots!)

The lovely differences of sisters. :-)

You should have talked about the creepy maniqin in the closet. The one you bonked your head on. LOL! LOL! LOL! That was really funny...you thought so too. ;-)

  7. Yes you are right, vintage shoes are much tooo small. I figured out how to stretch shoes to make them a bit wider and it's helped! I posted it on my blog a while back....

This store looks amazing! I love vintage shopping :)

That shop sure didn't look impressive from the outside, but there really was some fun stuff.
