Shayleen

It's late.
I'm in my Mickey Mouse Christmas footie pajamas.
We're leaving for the airport in about six hours.

Here are the results of the long, cold, photo shoot I had with Shayleen yesterday.

And now--I'm going to go sleep.

...in all honesty...

today, I
  • got up early. And went to my married sister's house with my mom and sister.
  • got out of the car at her house and realized I stepped in dog doo at home.
  • gathered the ridiculous amount of stuff  I seem to need to haul everywhere I go, my box of books tipped over, and my book fell in a huge blob of mud.
  • changed my niece Katie's diaper. Three times
  • hung out with my awesome friend Beka, who I have not seen in weeks.
  • rocked out to my favoritest rocking-out song.
  • watched Katie twirl in her princess dress.
  • jumped on a trampoline with my sister Bethany and Beka and screamed Despicable Me quotes. yeah, we're really mature.
  • saw the epic sunset and the ensuing shiny full moon on the way home.
  • got out of the car and dropped my water bottle in dog doo.

a beautiful girl

entering this in Carlotta's photo challenge

I had a crazy weekend. It involved dancing my heart out under a white disco ball. And staying awake until an ungodly hour talking to my sister. And screaming and laughing and winning games in a basement. And eating truffles.

Today, I am still excruciatingly sore from my way-too-vigorous dancing.
And today, I'm finally getting around to sharing these pictures of my beautiful friend Shayleen.

Watermarking. It's something I've avoided, just because it seems inconvenient. But since I'm working on a portfolio blog for my photography, I figured I'd better get one. Drat.

I worked on adding one to a few of my photos (while watching the Boris Karloff Frankenstein, by the way). I don't love it... it's sorta boring. I just used one of the fonts on picnik.com. Have any suggestions for a watermark? I'd love to do an icon, too, but I can't think of one that fits the name...

And I need help with something else.
Shayleen is working on her modeling portfolio, and since she doesn't want to pay $500 for the super-good LA model photographer that her agency suggested...she wants me to take the photos.
Which is thrilling and terrifying. It's a great opportunity to add photos to my portfolio, too,
but I am just a little stressed out about the whole thing.

So, if you have any experience with specifically model photography, I would really appreciate them!
Or if you know any great model photographers' sites that I could check out.

True Grit

I really have to talk about this movie because it seems like no one else is!
I haven't read a single post about it on anyone's blog.

I went into it not knowing anything about it, except that it was a western, and Matt Damon was in it.

And let me tell you, that was enough for me to be super-excited about seeing it.

It was a very unusual movie... the kind of movie that critics love and some audience don't.

It's full of wide, star-covered skies, creaking leather, chaps, and noisy spurs.
What else could a girl want?

Well, actually, us female-types are inevitably going to be a little disappointed at the non-fairy-tale ending.

I told you that because if you don't expect the ending to be perfect,
you won't be indignant when it happens.

Jeff Bridges made me love him...a considerable feat,
considering my vague grudge against him for his personality in various other movies I've seen him in.

Matt Damon's role was unusual for him and made me happy.
His character's name is LaBoeuf, pronounced la-BEEF.
Which makes me laugh. We promptly named one of our kittens LaBoeuf.

So... go and see it. Ok? And then hurry back and tell me what you thought of it. : )
