you're right there beside me

I'm not a huge fan of Owl City (not really into techno, or his voice, or some of the strange lyrics)...
but I love a couple of their songs, including "Meteor Shower". The lyrics are so. perfect. And I felt like adding them to this sky shot I got a while back.

How do you feel about Owl City?

  1. I personally love Owl City. Adam Young just *knows* how to make me happy... although the hype and squeal-y fangirls have turned me off a little bit. ;) Vanilla Twilight is my favorite. And Meteor Shower is actually a very beautiful song... thanks for reminding me of it with this post. :') I love this blog... *sigh* Feel free to come visit me, too.

  2. Oooo... love the picture! I'm not *crazy* about Owl City either, but I do love some of their songs! My favorite ever is "Hot Air Balloon." Love that one! Oh, and I also like "Fireflies." I'm thinking I really need to give some of their other songs a chance, because I'm sort of stuck on those two. :P

  4. I really like Owl City. I find his music refreshing, it's so different from other songs! I like the lyrics too, I think they're really fun and creative, plus I'm a sucker for good puns. :)
"Golf and alcohol don't mix, and that's why I don't drink and drive"
    ~Dental Care, Owl City.

  5. I couldn't help but comment on this post. I really like Owl City. I like that he's (supposedly at least) a Christian and that his songs are clean. One of my favorite lyrics of his is "I look at my hands and feel sad, cause the places between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly" from Vanilla Twilight.
Anyways, back to the point of why I'm commenting... this is the link to Adam's blog where he wrote this note to/for Taylor Swift about the song "Enchanted" from her new album. Just thought I'd share. :)

  6. Yup, I like 'im. Young's music makes me fall asleep. In a good way. It's a compliment when I choose to end my day with someone's music. Owl City is calming. And yes, I've heard he's a Christian, so I respect him even more.

  7. I like Owl City. The combination of his lyrics and music style create something fun, enjoyable, and sometimes thought-provoking. [In my opinion. :)] I've also listened to one or two songs from Sky Sailing (an earlier project) and liked it as well. :)

  10. Hee hee.... I love this song <3

While I find that secular music is a HUGE stumbling block for me, Owl City is one of those that I find that I can listen to in moderation :) While my mom has cautioned me, knowing how secular music is for me, she has okay'ed Owl City because she trusts my judgement.

I have his album Of June on my iPod :D I want this song and the Technicolor Phase one.... ;)

  17. Owl City's one of the artists that I really like. I love most of his songs. And Meteor Shower is just one of my favorites. But I like the fact that some of the songs have "hidden" references to God such as Meteor Shower and Tidal Wave.

  20. I like Owl City. I also agree with Inna that I like how creative they are. Sometimes it's fun to listen to really random lyrics. ;)

  23. I really like Owl City's songs for several reasons:
    1. He's a Christian and is consistent in reminding people of it on Face Book and his blog.
    2. His blog is inspiring, well written and creative.
    3. His music is fun, creative, original and clean.
    4. His faith in G-d is not deminished despite the insomnia he has to deal with.
    5. He appears to be an optimist :)

In all basicness, I love his music. (not saying you should, just saying how I feel) And the picture you took fits perfectly with those lyrics. You did a marvelous job!

  24. I don't listen to Owl City all the time, but certain songs are just so beautiful... Vanilla Twilight, Saltwater Room, If My Heart Was a House... and others I listen to when I really need something happy (Dental Care always cracks me up, and I was playing it a lot around the time I got my wisdom teeth out xD) :). Fireflies is a favorite, because of the meaning I personally find in it. For me, he's definitely gifted and I love his music, but day-to-day I'm listening to more rock and alt-rock than other genres. Ocean Eyes is the perfect 'time to relax' album, though :D. Actually, I could really listen to it now…
